Plantar Fasciitis & Heel Pain
If your heel feels like it’s being stabbed the second you put your foot on the floor in the morning, you’re dealing with one of the most common issues I see — plantar fasciitis. That sharp, catching pain under the heel usually eases once you’re moving, only to flare again after standing, driving or being on hard ground for too long.
I work from Belturbet and treat clients from Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim and Fermanagh. With 26 years of remedial experience, I focus on the muscular and load‑transfer issues that make plantar fascia work harder than it should.
Plantar fasciitis is a force‑distribution issue, not just a “sore foot.”
How It Helps
- calves so tight they pull on the heel with every step
- stiff ankles that force the heel to strike harder
- arches collapsing slightly under load
- long days on concrete or hard ground
- sudden increases in walking, running or training
- foot muscles fatigued from doing all the stabilising
Most people try to fix heel pain from the bottom up — rolling a ball under the foot, buying gel insoles, changing shoes. It might help for a few minutes, but it rarely solves the problem.
What This Treatment Involves
I don’t do relaxation massage or temporary fixes. When you come in with heel pain, the entire session is focused on getting the foot and lower leg working properly again.
Treatment approach:
Calf & Achilles Release
- Tight calves are one of the biggest contributors to plantar fascia overload. Freeing the gastrocnemius and soleus reduces the constant pull on the heel.
Foot & Arch Work
- Targeted pressure to the plantar fascia and intrinsic foot muscles helps ease the tight, protective bracing that builds up over time.
Ankle Mobility Work
- If the ankle doesn’t bend properly, the heel absorbs too much impact. Restoring movement here reduces strain with every step.
Myofascial Release Through the Arch
- Gentle, sustained work helps the fascia glide again instead of feeling stuck or “grippy.” Everything is hands‑on, practical work.
Cross‑Fibre Friction (Chronic Cases)
- Break down adhesions and encourage proper healing, aimed at reducing the morning pain and improving how your foot handles load throughout the day.
Who It's For
- Adults who’ve tried rest, ice, stretching or rolling a ball but still can’t shift the pain
- People whose heel pain returns every morning
- Tradespeople, chefs, nurses, hairdressers — anyone standing all day
- Runners dealing with recurring heel pain
- GAA players training on hard ground
